Whenever someone tries to tell us that music can’t make a difference, all we can do is shake our heads and feel sorry for them.

Bob Geldorf once said that music is the only true international language, because you don’t need to know the words to understand.

And at Concert For The Cure we believe in this more than anything, because we have seen it happen.

Throughout history, music has brought people together in celebration of our humanity, and in pursuit of a higher goal.

Remember Hendrix at Woodstock, ripping The Star Spangled Banner apart with wah-wah, feedback and distortion? It was a moment that defined the entire anti-Vietnam movement in America.

Remember Live Aid, and Live 8, and the global strength that those concerts created? Once again, people with guitars changed the world for the better, purely through the strength of the musical community.

Remember WaveAid? A day when Australia's music community got together on a whim to extend a helping hand to those affected by the Boxing Day tsunami of 2004?

Music, and the strength of the music community, can change the world for the better.

Those of us at Concert For The Cure hope that you will join with us to prove that music can change the world, and that young people aren’t quite as disengaged and apathetic as everyone says.
