2006 - 2010
In only a very short period of time, Concert for the Cure has achieved tremendous success with a number of different events - from humble beginnings amongst our friends to a nationally-televised concert on the steps of the Sydney Opera House.
Throughout, we have received generous support from many charities, companies and countless, countless individuals.
The success of Concert for the Cure is not merely the success of those who's names appear on this website - instead, the success of Concert for the Cure is the success of community. We could never have achieved all that we have without generous assistance from nearly everyone we have ever asked.
Our point is this: we can't succeed without you. Head on over to the 'Getting Involved' page to find out how you can help.
Cruising for the Cure
2010 marked the return of the people's favorite - Cruise for the Cure. Only this year the event was a supercharged sell-out with 200 revelers.
The Miami Vice costumes were the order of the day as our guests danced their worries away. The event was sold out days before and managed to raise 10,000 dollars
A splendid success the event will return in 2011, with many certain to be planning their costumes already.
Sponsorship from Lion Nathan, Smirnoff, Nutrient Water, Bacardi Lion and Recruited Sounds.
Carnival For The Cure
In 2009 we decided to move away from having a traditional sit-down dinner for our flagship fundraising event. Instead we raised $25,000 to create a Carnival which spilled out from a residence on the edge of Sydney Harbour.
In a roving, more dynamic atmosphere, fire breathers, dancers and a range of performances entertained guests and created a wonderful atmosphere to raise funds for the National Breast Cancer Foundation and the Breast Cancer Network Australia.
Pink on the Green
Once again, a great day was had by all, and for the second year running over 300 people came along to Paddington Bowling Club on a Saturday afternoon.
Not only was there the inaugural winner crowned for the bowling competition, but over 00 was raised.
Tickled Pink
Tickled Pink was held on Wednesday May 13th and was our first solo concert project since the Max Sessions: Powderfinger.
It was staged at the Univerrsity of Sydney's St Andrews College and was the first inter-collegiate event that was primarily a fundraising exercise.
The event included big names like Art V Science and Bag Raiders as well as Bird Automatic, Underights and the Cameras.
The concert pumped well into the night and the 1,200 guests - who were mostly university students - raised ,000 for the NBCF and the BCNA.
The event was such a success that there are plans to take the event to the next step in 2010.
Cruisin' For the Cure
Concert For The Cure's latest fundraiser 'Cruisin For The Cure', was held on a scorching summers day on Sydney Harbour on January 18.
Those who were lucky enough to go said it was an absolute cracker of a day. Special thanks to Lion Nathan, the Civic Hotel and Manettas Seafoods for their kind help.
The event opened up 2009 with a bang and helped CFTC donate ,000 to the NBCF. We are looking at making the event a part of our annual calendar.
Pink Tie Dinner: Canvas for the Cure @ Civic Dining
Following the success of last year's inaugural Pink Tie Dinner, the second instalment of the dinner was held at Civic Dining, in the heart of the Sydney CBD. The recent recipient of a Sydney Morning Herald Good Food Guide Chef's Hat - one of the most prestigious awards in the New South Wales restaurant world - Head Chef Peter Conistis served up an astonishing array of foods.
The dinner was a slight change for Concert for the Cure, as the evening focussed on art - especially young artists.
Part of what we are about at Concert for the Cure is to highlight the potential of young Australians, and the talent, passion and drive that so many young people have. Many commentators in the media like to write our generation off as globally connected and singularly dispassionate, but the sheer amount of effort that went into these artworks and the passion that each artist had for their work would put any of those commentators to shame.
The paintings were auctioned over the course of the evening, and combined with ticket sales and many incredibly generous donations, for the second consecutive year the dinner raised over 25,000 dollars.
Pink on the Green
During May we had our first event for 2008. The day was organised by UTS leisure students. Three hundred happy people turned up to play a game of bowls and enjoy a few pink themed drinks in the sun. The event raised more than $5,000 and was such a success we are looking to add it to the annual CFTC Calendar.
MAX Sessions - Powderfinger: A Concert for the Cure
On the 31st of October Concert for the Cure came together with Foxtel's MAX Channel to put on a very special Max Sessions Concert. The event was on the Opera House forecourt and was spearheaded by POWDERFINGER and special guests - Missy Higgins, Kev Carmody and Nick Cester - performed to 700 special guests who had all, in some way, been touched by breast cancer.
The concert was later awarded an Astra Award for the Most Outstanding Music Program or Coverage and was broadcast nationally during November.
In an agreement with the NBCF a donate now tab, as well as key positioning on MAX's website encouraged and reminded viewers to help donate funds to breast cancer.
Pink Tie Dinner @ Pink Salt, Double Bay
On September 2007 we held our first Pink Tie Dinner at the famous Pink Salt in Double Bay. The dinner was well received raising in excess of $25,000 amongst the 80 invited guests.
On Thursday, August 23, 2007, ninety people gathered for the Inaugural Pink Tie Dinner, raising funds for research into breast cancer. Sponsored by Tyrelles Wines, Lion Nathan and Spilt Rock beverages and held at Pink Salt restaurant in Double Bay, the night was a culmination of many months of hard work and was a wonderful evening that went off without a hitch. Many present on the night knew Kate Vindin very well, and there was hardly a dry eye in the house after Nick’s passionate, moving speech.
The extraordinary generosity we witnessed was completely unexpected, raising over ,000 from ticket sales, donations and our three auction items.
CFTC launch @ The Civic Hotel
Our first ever event was held at Sydney's Civic Hotel, on March 9th, 2007.
We were overwhelmed with the response, as close to 400 young people paid actual money for a ticket - something we never imagined would happen.
Throughout the night we raised close to $3,500 towards fighting breast cancer and funding research into a possible cure.
